The Doris Day Animal Foundation gave PAWS-itive Partners Humane Society of North Platte a $5,000 grant to spay and neuter cats.

The money will support our community work to trap, neuter/spay and return unowned cats to the location they reside in.

“When we learned about the terrific work PAWS-itive Partners is doing to reduce feline populations and care for cats in North Platte, we knew we wanted to help,” said Bob Bashara, Director of Doris Day Animal Foundation. “we’re proud to be able to support their efforts.”

For years, we’ve helped individual pet owners, but the number of homeless cats in some areas is still out-of-control. With this grant, PAWS-itive Partners, TNR-NP, Tender Hearts Veterinary Center, Westfield Small Animal Clinic and Fur the Love of Paws are working together to stop the problem before it starts and that’s by spaying and neutering.

The plan is to work with mobile home park owners and the people who live there to trap, neuter/spay and return 60 cats living there the next three weeks.

Our TNR will prevent 300 unwanted kittens from having to be born just in the next six months. In addition to sterilizing the cats, PAWS-itive Partners will have each cat vaccinated against rabies and treated for parasites.
